The Australian Society of Miniature Art (Victoria) Inc (ASMA Victoria) was formed in February 1992, following the founding of ASMA New South Wales and ASMA Queensland. Noela Patane was the founding President. Eight artists attended the inaugural meeting. Membership has since grown to approximately forty. The Society became incorporated in 1996 during the presidency of Sheila Slicer ARMS.
In November 1992 Rae Harris HRMS was asked to be patron. In 1995 she was made an honorary life member of the society and remained a great source of help and encouragement until her death in April 2002. More recently, Maureen Wilkinson was awarded life membership in recognition of her amazing achievement in executing 200 ceramic protraits of early Australian pioneers and outstanding leaders in sport, literature and art.
The Society tends towards realism in art and holds its annual open exhibitions in April/May each year at the Australian Society of Realist Artists Gallery in Camberwell, Melbourne, Victoria. Members have participated in all World Federation of Miniaturists exhibitions since the first in London in 1995.
