World Federation of Miniaturists is a loosely structured organization of miniature art groups, united by a common purpose of accomplishing collectively what has been undertaken individually – expanding global participation in, understanding of, and support for miniature art. The creative and expressive freedoms of participant groups are fully respected, there being no desire to impose pre-determined artistic requirements. Unified strength is derived from a shared aspiration of furthering the appreciation of the delicate beauty and refinement of art “in little”. All miniaturists are embraced in the international fellowship of WFM through the membership of their respective societies. Additionally, individual artists and friends of the arts are welcomed – in fact, encouraged, to become “WFM Support Members”. The officers, management and operation of WFM are rotated periodically among the constituent member societies.
Definition
A universal banding together of miniature artists on an individual or collective basis around the world united by a common bond of artistic and aesthetic interests, goals and fellowship.
Purpose
To further among all peoples a greater knowledge, understanding, support and appreciation of the history, beauty and cultural worth of fine art created in small scale.
Organization Style
Given the diverse societies, cultures and traditions in which the love of creating “in the small” flourished and does continue to flourish, WFM is proposed as a loosely structured umbrella organization, recognizing and respecting not only such diversity but also the independence and creative freedom now enjoyed by its constituent member organizations.
Organization Structure
Officers (when determined) of WFM and the duties of such offices would rotate periodically (minimum three years, maximum six years) only among the constituent member organizations until such time as a more permanent solution is deemed practicable.
Operating Objectives
Exchange educational material (i.e. newsletters, video tapes, books, catalogs, slides, photographs, etc.) between and among constituent members.
Share knowledge and techniques in the furtherance of elevating the quality of miniature art among constituent members.
Educate the public (i.e. exhibits, seminars, classes, slide and video presentations, lectures, books, demonstrations, etc.)
Alert the public as well as the miniaturist, to the true value of the work of the artist.
Membership
Open to all miniature organizations, whose members are automatically embraced through their parent organization. However, individual artists and interested non-artists are encouraged to join as “WFM Support Members”.
